Coaxial cable carries TV, video and radio signals along a single centre conductor surrounded by an insulating dielectric and a metal screen. The screen keeps the signal in and outside interference out. In Pakistan it is often called dish wire, because RG6 connects most satellite dishes and cable TV points.

We make the 75 Ω types used for dish, cable TV and CCTV (RG6, RG7, RG11 and RG59) and the RG213/U and RG214/U types used for radio equipment. Most types are available with a copper or a copper-clad steel (CCS) centre conductor, and we tell you plainly which one you are buying.

Construction

How coaxial cable is built

Five parts, one inside the other: centre conductor, dielectric, foil screen, braided screen and outer jacket.

  1. Centre conductor

Carries the signal. Available in copper or copper-clad steel (CCS), a steel core with a bonded copper skin.

  2. Dielectric

The white insulating layer that holds the conductor exactly in the centre. Its size sets the cable's impedance.

  3. Foil screen

A thin metal foil wrapped around the dielectric that blocks high-frequency interference.

  4. Braided screen

A woven wire braid over the foil that adds screening and mechanical strength, and carries the signal return.

  5. Outer jacket

The black outer layer that protects the screens during installation.

Coaxial cable types and conductors

RG numbers name the cable type. Match the type to your equipment: 75 Ω for TV, dish and video, 50 Ω for radio.

Centre conductor

Ask for the material by name when you order.

  • CopperAll copper

The conductor is copper all the way through. Choose it where the cable also carries power to a device, for example a dish LNB, amplifier or camera, and for long runs.

  • CCSCopper-clad steel

A steel core with a copper skin. TV and satellite signals travel on the outer skin, so CCS suits ordinary dish and cable TV runs at lower cost. It is not an all-copper conductor.

75 Ω types

For satellite dish, cable TV, antenna and video signals.

  • RG675 ΩDish, cable TV, antenna
  • RG775 Ω, thicker than RG6Longer TV runs
  • RG1175 Ω, thickestLong distribution runs
  • RG5975 Ω, thinnerCCTV and short video runs

50 Ω types

For radio transmitters, antennas and RF equipment.

  • RG213/U50 Ω, single braidRadio and antenna feeders
  • RG214/U50 Ω, double braidExtra screening for RF

Supplied in 305 m (1,000 ft) rolls, with shorter lengths on request. Tell us the RG type, conductor (copper or CCS), quantity and delivery city.

Coaxial Cables FAQs

What is coaxial cable used for?

Coaxial cable carries TV, video and radio signals. It connects satellite dishes, cable TV points and antennas to televisions and receivers, links CCTV cameras to recorders, and feeds radio transmitters and antennas. In Pakistan it is commonly called dish wire or dish cable.

Which type do I need: RG6, RG7, RG11 or RG59?

All four are 75 Ω cables. RG6 is the usual choice for satellite dish, cable TV and antenna connections in homes. RG7 and RG11 are thicker, with lower signal loss, so they suit longer runs and distribution lines between buildings or floors. RG59 is thinner and more flexible and is mainly used for CCTV cameras and short video runs.

Copper or CCS: which is better?

It depends on the job. CCS (copper-clad steel) has a steel core with a copper skin. TV and satellite signals travel on that outer skin, so CCS works well for ordinary dish and cable TV runs and costs less. An all-copper conductor has lower resistance, so choose it when the cable also carries power to a device, such as a dish LNB, an amplifier or a camera, and for long runs. We label every cable as copper or CCS and never sell CCS as copper.

What are RG213/U and RG214/U used for?

They are 50 Ω coaxial cables for radio work: transmitters, receivers, antennas and RF equipment. RG214/U has a double braided screen for extra shielding. They are not interchangeable with 75 Ω TV cables such as RG6.

Can I use 75 Ω cable with 50 Ω equipment?

No. The cable's impedance should match the equipment. TV, satellite and video systems use 75 Ω cable, while most radio equipment uses 50 Ω. Mixing them causes signal reflections and loss.

Why does my dish signal drop on a long cable?

Every coaxial cable loses some signal along its length, and thinner cables lose more. For a long run, use a thicker type such as RG7 or RG11, keep joints to a minimum and use good connectors. Tell us the length of your run and we will help you choose.

Is dish cable the same as coaxial cable?

Yes. Dish cable, dish wire and TV cable are everyday names for coaxial cable. RG6 is the type used for most satellite dish and cable TV connections.

What is the RG6 cable price in Pakistan?

Price depends on the type, the conductor (copper or CCS) and the quantity. Coaxial cable is supplied in 305 m rolls. Send your requirement through the quote form or WhatsApp for current prices and delivery to your city.
