Flexible cable, also called flexible wire, is made from many fine copper strands, so it bends repeatedly without damage. It connects equipment that moves or is moved: appliances, extension leads, machines and control panels. Each core has its own PVC insulation, and the cores run together under a PVC outer sheath, a construction written as Cu/PVC/PVC.
We make round cables in 2, 3 and 4 core and flat twin cables in 2 core, rated 300/500 V and marked BS 6500. Sizes run from 23/.0076 to 162/.0076, using 99.9% pure copper strands.

Construction
How flexible cable is built
Three parts: fine-stranded copper conductors, colour-coded core insulation and a common outer sheath.

Illustrative round three-core construction. Core count and cable construction vary by product.
Fine-stranded conductor
Each core is made of many copper strands 0.0076 in (about 0.19 mm) across. More, finer strands are what let the cable bend again and again.
Core insulation
PVC insulation on every core, coloured so each conductor can be identified. Red, yellow and blue cores are shown.
Outer sheath
A common PVC sheath, white on our round cables, protects the cores and holds them together. It is the second PVC layer in Cu/PVC/PVC.
Flexible cable types and sizes
Flexible sizes are named by strand count and strand diameter. Order the code your drawing or electrician specifies.
Round flexible
Strands × strand diameter in inches. Cross-section calculated from the strands.

Flat flexible

Flexible & Control Cables FAQs
What do codes like 40/.0076 mean?
The first number is how many copper strands each core has, and the second is the diameter of each strand in inches. A 40/.0076 core has 40 strands, each 0.0076 inches (about 0.19 mm) across, giving a cross-section of about 1.17 mm².
Is 23/.0076 the same as 0.75 mm²?
No. A 23/.0076 core is about 0.67 mm², close to but smaller than a metric 0.75 mm² cable. Imperial and metric flexible cables are separate products, so order the code your drawing or electrician specifies.
How is flexible cable different from house wiring?
House wiring has a few thick strands and is made for fixed installation inside walls and conduit. Flexible cable has many fine strands and an outer sheath, so it can bend repeatedly. Use it for connections that move, such as appliances, extension leads and machines.
Should I choose round or flat?
Round cable has the cores packed inside a thick sheath, so it handles movement and handling well, and comes in 2, 3 and 4 core. Flat twin cable sits neatly along walls and surfaces and comes in 2 core. Choose the type your installation calls for.
Which size do I need?
That depends on the load, the length of the run and how the cable is used, so your electrician should decide. Tell our team what the cable will connect, and we will help you compare the sizes available.
How can I check the cable is genuine Aziz?
Our flexible cable is printed along its length with the Aziz name, size, core count, construction, voltage grade, standard and our registered trademark number. For example: AZIZ CABLES 110/076 X 4 CORE FLEXIBLE CU/PVC/PVC 300/500 VOLTS BS 6500 T.M.NO.233059.
What are 23/76, 40/76 and 70/76 cable sizes in mm?
By cross-section per core: 23/76 is about 0.673 mm², 40/76 is 1.171 mm², 70/76 is 2.049 mm², 110/76 is 3.219 mm² and 162/76 is 4.741 mm². The codes are written in full as 23/.0076, 40/.0076 and so on.
What is the price of flexible cable?
Prices follow the copper market, so we quote on the day you ask. Send the size code, round or flat, number of cores and number of 90 m coils through the quote form or WhatsApp, and we will reply with the current price and delivery to your city.
How do I order?
Share the size code, round or flat, number of cores, number of 90 m coils and your delivery city. Aziz Cables manufactures in Lahore and supplies customers across Pakistan.
