Solar DC cable, also called solar wire or DC wire, carries direct current from your solar panels to the combiner box, charge controller or inverter. Aziz Cables makes it as a flexible single-core cable with a finely stranded copper conductor, in red for positive and black for negative, so the two runs are easy to tell apart from panel to inverter.
Choose a tin-coated or plain copper conductor and one of four insulation constructions, from PVC/PVC to XLPO/XLPO rated 1500 V DC. Our solar cable is made for residential, commercial and industrial installations, from kilowatt rooftop systems to megawatt-scale projects. Our price list lists these cables under BS EN 50618 and BS 7671.

Construction
How solar DC cable is built
Three parts: a flexible copper conductor, an inner insulation layer and an outer sheath.

Illustrative double-sheath construction shown. Our XLPE/PVC/PVC option adds a third layer, and materials vary by construction.
Copper conductor
Finely stranded 99.9% pure copper, so the cable bends easily around panel frames and into junction boxes. Choose tin-coated copper, which helps protect the strands from oxidation, or plain copper.
Insulation
The inner layer around the conductor. It is PVC, XLPE, XLPO or LSZH, depending on the construction you choose.
Outer sheath
The red or black outer layer that protects the insulation during installation and marks positive and negative runs. Its material depends on the construction.
Solar DC cable constructions and sizes
Choose the construction your system design or project specification calls for, then the conductor size.
Conductor sizes
Single core, specified by cross-section in mm².
- 4 mm²Single core, fine-stranded
- 6 mm²Single core, fine-stranded

Solar DC Cables FAQs
Can I use house wiring for solar panels?
Use solar DC cable between the panels and the inverter. These runs carry direct current, often at higher voltages than household circuits, and are usually installed outdoors on rooftops and panel frames. House wiring is made for AC circuits inside buildings. Follow the cable your installer or system design specifies.
Which construction should I choose?
Follow your project specification or installer. XLPO/XLPO is rated 1500 V DC and is the one to ask for when a specification names a 1.5 kV DC solar cable. XLPE/PVC/PVC is listed up to 1500 V, while PVC/PVC and LSZH/LSZH are 600/1000 V constructions. Share your system voltage and where the cable will run, and our team will help you compare.
Tin-coated or plain copper: which is better?
Tin coating helps protect the copper strands from oxidation, and many solar specifications ask for tinned conductors. Plain copper is also available. Both use 99.9% pure copper.
Do I need 4 mm² or 6 mm²?
It depends on the current, the length of the run and the voltage drop your system allows, so your installer or system designer should decide. Both sizes are available in red and black, and other sizes are available on request.
Is your solar cable tested to BS EN 50618?
Our price list lists our solar DC cables under BS EN 50618 and BS 7671. PCSIR Laboratories Lahore tested samples of our 4 mm² and 6 mm² XLPE/PVC/PVC solar cable using BS EN 50618 test procedures in October and November 2025. The reports cover those samples, not every construction or batch. Ask our team for copies, and share your specification so we can confirm which construction to quote.
Will it fit MC4-type solar connectors?
MC4-type connectors are made for specific conductor sizes and cable outer diameters, and 4 mm² and 6 mm² are the usual solar sizes. Check the connector's rated range against the cable you order. Our tested XLPE/PVC/PVC samples measured about 7.3 mm (4 mm²) and 7.8–8.0 mm (6 mm²) across; ask our team for the diameter of other constructions. Use connectors and crimp tools rated for the cable size, and keep red (positive) and black (negative) consistent from end to end.
How can I check the cable is genuine Aziz?
Our solar cable is printed along its length with the Aziz name, size, construction, conductor, voltage and our registered trademark number. For example, our tested 4 mm² sample reads: AZIZ 4 MM FLEXIBLE CABLE XLPE/PVC/PVC TIN COPPER 600/1500 VOLTS SOLAR WIRE T.M. NO. 233059. Check the print before installation.
What is the solar cable price in Pakistan?
Prices follow the copper market, so we quote on the day you ask. Send the size, colour, conductor and construction, with the length you need through the quote form or WhatsApp, and we will reply with the current price and delivery to your city. Solar cable is supplied by the metre.
How do I order?
Tell us the size, colour, conductor (tin-coated or plain copper), construction and quantity, plus your delivery city. Solar cable is supplied by the metre, and most installations order red and black together, one for each polarity. Aziz Cables manufactures in Lahore and supplies customers across Pakistan.
